“Chicken Tournaments” commence on Sunday 2nd January 2011

You have heard of our famous “Chicken Tournaments”? At 2:30 PM each Saturday in January, we start a handicap doubles tournament that runs over 3-hours... played in the cooler part of the afternoon. For a small fee ($8 for Adults and $5 for Juniors) you get to play for the honour of winning a prized frozen chicken or a chilled bottle of wine. It's a great opportunity to run off all the extra calories you enjoyed over the festive season... and allows you to get ready for Badge Competitions. Our handicap format provides competitive tennis for a wide range of grades. Make it a family afternoon and invite friends along to enjoy the fun.

To accommodate your New Years Day commitments, the first tournament has been scheduled for Sunday 2nd January 2011. To play, no notice is required. Just arrive at 2:15 PM ready for a 2:30 PM start.

All other Chicken Tournaments in January will be on Saturday afternoons. For more details, follow the link to:  http://goo.gl/Qe6F1

Final chance to book for Col's 60th Birthday party, THIS Saturday

What a way to finish the year... Tennis Valley's traditional annual Christmas Party, with a difference!

This year we get to pay tribute in a special way to club stalwart and Club Captain, Col Ritchie, who has done so much for Tennis Valley over so many years and continues to do so. This is not just the usual Col's Prawn & Chicken Night ... this year we get to say 'Happy 60th Col' and rock around the clock in style!

As a form of tribute, everyone is asked to wear Col's favourite colour(purple/lilac/mauve/lavender/etc.) and come ready to dance to the great hits of the 50s and 60s, performed LIVE on stage by those musical marauders, The Memphis Outlaws. The prawns and chicken will still be menu staples and some wonderful desserts are being provided by volunteer chefs.

Almost 100 club members and friends have already bought their tickets - adults, juniors, comp. and social players. If you haven't booked yet, this is your last chance. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to thank Col for all his efforts and to send out 2010 at Tennis Valley on a high note. Call Kerry Rymer now on 0417 689 456 or e-mail krymer@optusnet.com.au to book your table. We need final numbers by Thursday so Kerry can order enough prawns and chicken for everyone!

Merry Christmas to all... see you Saturday!

Col Ritchie's 60th Birthday Celebration - 11 December 2010

Bookings
Col’s party is only a week and a half away. We need to get guest numbers confirmed and make this a celebration to remember. As well as buying your tickets on line or at the bar, please send your table requests to  kit@tennisvalley.com.au so that your table can be set up for you and your friends. We are doing the room set-up on Thursday night and decorating it on Saturday... so we need to know the number of guests. Please make your bookings as soon as possible.

Calling all desert cooks!
Are you a good cook? In order to maximise the size of Col's birthday present can you assist by providing some of the dessert at our celebration? If you can assist, please let me know your favourite dessert 'creation' by emailing me at kit@tennisvalley.com.auThings like cheesecakes, pavlovas, fruit salads, chocolate cakes all seem to go down well and are easy to serve. Don’t be limited by these ideas... feel free to make your favourite.

Decorators please…
If you want to assist with the decoration of the tables and room on Saturday afternoon (unless you are playing in a final of course…) could you please let me know. Email kit@tennisvalley.com.au

Can you help serve on the night?
Another way to keep the costs down (and increase the value of Col's present) is to have guests serve the food to each other. The main tasks will be: plating up chicken, prawns and salads and serving them to the buffet and keeping it stocked; a second team will clear the first course and put out the desserts; a third team will clear up the desserts and make sure everything is properly in the fridge and we have cleaned up after the meal. We will use paid staff to wash the table dishes. Email your expression of interest to me care of kit@tennisvalley.com.au. The more who volunteer, the less will be the workload on any one guest.

Let’s make this a fabulous night for Col and make his birthday gift as generous as possible.

Regards
Kerry Rymer
