On 3rd April 2011 Tennis Valley and the Australia Chinese Society held their inaugural tennis tournament. David Keogh (the organiser) invited the North Shore Times (newspaper) to cover the event. This weeks issue of the newspaper gave a full-page coverage with lots of photos. Great publicity for the Club... but more important we raised $2,200 for a donation to the Asian Animal Foundation... with the specific purpose of stopping cruel treatment of the Chinese Moon Bear. The 58 participants also had lots of fun.

Phaung Daw Oo Orphanage Trivia Night
On Saturday 7th May 2011 we’ll be holding a charity trivia night from 8pm at
Tennis Valley
325A Eastern Valley Way Chatswood
We’ll enjoy our trivia and our conversation and company and we will learn about the work of the Phaung Daw Oo orphanage. Kerry and the staff at our club will look after and feed us well and drinks will be available at the bar.
Three years ago Cylcone Nargis roared into Burma. Days of torrential rain, high winds and storms left nearly 140,000 casualties. Many children were orphaned. The monks at Phaung Daw Oo monastery are now caring for about 7,000 children affected by the devastation of this huge cyclone.
Lovely Rebecca Moore, who graced our Eastern Lounge in March is a dedicated supporter of the orphanage, and impressed us with her talk about the orphanage and how we can help. Now is our chance.
Rebecca will join us at the trivia night and show us and tell us more about the monks and the kids they are supporting. And she will sing for us too. Check her web site at http://www.rebeccamooremusic.com/ and look at the Burmese orphans link.
We welcome tables of contestants, or you can make up or join a table on the night. Why not make up a table from your work? Cost is $28 per person. Please indicate numbers (for catering purposes) by phoning
